65th IAVS Annual Symposium coming to Australia in September

02 February 2023

Later this year, the 65th Annual Symposium of the International Association for Vegetation Science (IAVS) will take place on 4 – 8 September at the beachside resort Opal Cove in New South Wales, Australia. The region of Coffs Harbour is itself a proud owner of stunning and unique vegetation.

In 2023, the event will be running under the theme “The Future of Vegetation in the 22nd Century”. The Chair of the local organising committee is Adjunct Professor John T. Hunter (University of New England).

“Given the stark manifestations of climate change in recent years, both globally and in Australia, IAVS 2023 presents an important opportunity for the world’s vegetation scientists to meet, take stock of recent events and recalibrate predictions about the prospects for the world’s vegetation by the 22nd century,” explain the organisers.

Important deadlines:

  • 1 March 2023 – Proposals for themed sessions and workshops
  • 1 April 2023 – IAVS travel grant applications and abstracts
