Hungary welcomes the 18th Eurasian Grassland Conference in September

10 May 2023

Until 30 June, you can register for the four-day-long conference coming up to Hungary later this year. The event will take place from 25th to 28th September 2023 at the Visitor Centre of the Körös-Maros National Park in the small, yet picturesque town of Szarvas, located some 150 km away from the capital city of Bucharest.

The 18th Eurasian Grassland Conference (EGC) is organised by the Eurasian Dry Grassland Group (EDGG), the Seed Ecology Research Group at the Centre for Ecological Research (Hungary) and the Körös-Maros National Park Directorate. It is supported by the IAVS, the Centre for Ecological Research, the Körös-Maros National Park Directorate, and the Kiskunság National Park Directorate.

Under the theme “Conservation and management of grasslands in transforming landscapes”, the conference aims to improve our knowledge on the flora, fauna, diversity, management, and restoration of Palaearctic grasslands in changing landscapes.

Within the conference, delegates will get to enjoy four keynote talks, an optional workshop, a grassland party and a mid-conference excursion to the famous Hungarian 'puszta' in the Körös-Maros National Park. On top of that, those who stay around after the conference, will be able to join the three-day post-conference excursions in the diverse and spectacular grasslands of the Kiskunság National Park.
